New Construction? Remodel? The kitchen is the heart of the home. |
|
1. A well lit kitchen is like a well planned meal. You need a combination of a good recipe and great ingredients. 2. It is a good idea to bring a picture of your kitchen to the lighting design showroom and if possible, know the kitchens dimensions including ceiling height. Where are the doors? How much space is between the cabinets and the ceiling. How much space is between the cabinets and the countertop? 3. If you have new construction, it is critical to have a correct layout showing where cabinets and countertops will be for lighting placement. 4. If you plan to remodel an existing kitchen, it will be important to let us know how much deconstruction you will be doing. For example, if you plan to tear out the ceiling, recessed lighting might be a good option at that point. 5. Its important to light all the corners of your kitchen. The lighting should be positioned to spill over all the kitchen. 6. Lights above cabinets create a feeling of spaciousness and should be soft and low voltage. 7. Once you have your plan in place, use the same color bulbs throughout the kitchen so that the tone of the floor, counters and cabinets will be the same intensity. |

For optimal kitchen lighting, choose a fluorescent kitchen fixture or other close-to-ceiling kitchen fixtures for general lighting. Add a flush mount kitchen fixture above the sink and pendants above your dinette or breakfast bar. Kitchen cabinet lighting can be installed under your kitchen cabinets to create a well-lit work area, above cabinets for a soft up lighting effect, or inside a glass-front cabinet to highlight decorative accents or fine china. |
